NBA star Amar’e Stoudemire has been spending his free time dabbling in film during the off-season. This past Saturday Amar’e held a private screening for his new documentary entitled “Little Ballers” which he teamed up with rapper Lupe Fiasco, and a cast of the film industries finest to produce.
The documentary follows the lives of four 11-year-old AAU basketball players on their journey to achieve their goals and make it to the NBA. The film also features pro ballers Steve Nash, Walt Frazier, Carmelo Anthony, Joakim Noah, Russell Westbrook, Tyson Chandler, and JR Smith. Check out photos from the screening below.
Set against the backdrop of NYC, LITTLE BALLERS tells the story of four diverse 11-year-old boys and their legendary coach as they set out to win an AAU championship. For these young men, basketball is more than a game. It is a deep passion that holds special meaning for each of them. The film includes interviews with NBA players Amar’e Stoudemire, Steve Nash, Walt Frazier, Carmelo Anthony, Joakim Noah, Russell Westbrook, Tyson Chandler, JR Smith, and WNBA player Chamique Holdsclaw. The film also includes insights from Kery Davis, Senior Vice President, HBO Sports, Pablo S. Torre, Senior Writer, ESPN the Magazine/ESPN.com, William C. This feature length documentary explores the meaning of basketball in today’s society through the eyes of black men in their last age of innocence.
