Gucci’s Collection Features Iconic New York Yankees Logo

Gucci x Yankees

In Gucci’s pre-fall 2018 collection, the Italian fashion house paid homage to a staple in American fashion. Not the blue jean or the polo shirt, for this collection, they sought inspiration from the New York Yankees Cap.

This cap features one of the best logos in sports. Proven by the fact that it is the top-selling MLB hat (or any professional sport for that matter) on Amazon and also tops the most-sold lists of hat authorities, Lids and New Era. It makes sense that one of the most steadily consistent fashion houses, Gucci, would feature the team’s trademark Logo across their 2018 pre-fall accessories.

Creative Director of Gucci, Allesandro Michele, has always favored the Yankee cap and the overall culture of New York. “When I go to New York and London, I love to see how very brave the young people are—they have no rules”, shared Michele in a recent Vogue interview.

The gifted designer also shared his inner love for streetwear behind the couture veil of the House of Gucci. The NY Cap has certainly gone on to represent the resiliency of the spirit of New York. Whether you believe that the hats were popularized by Jay-Z or they just give the world a way to show our love affair with the Concrete Jungle, this hat is sculpted on the Mount Rushmore of American Fashion alongside Levi Strauss and Ralph Lauren.

Gucci’s collection features a line of baseball caps, beanies, and wool scarves that adorn the classic NY logo and are draped in Gucci Garden iconographies, such as the embroidered butterfly and floral embellishments. Rep America’s favorite team by copping pieces from the collection here.
