Houston Rockets’ guard, James Harden, has signed a 13 year, $200 million deal with Adidas.
Nike was unable to up the ante, so Harden and his agent, Rob Pelinka, agreed to the lucrative deal with Adidas. After six years with Nike, Harden will now be rocking Adidas shoes during games and within his social life. The deal also comes with a signature shoe and a clothing line, tailored to Harden’s creativity. Adidas is excited to take over the shoe market with the help of their newest addition to the team. “We’re a brand of creators and James embodies that more than any athlete in the game,” said Chris Grancio, Adidas global basketball general manager. “His addition to the Adidas basketball family is a game changer.”
Harden’s stand out style and stats is what attracted Adidas to the former Nike endorsed player. Grancio believes Harden has yet to reach his fullest potential and Adidas is the sure fire way to help him reach the top. “This partnership gives him the opportunity to achieve his goals and express himself in a totally new way as a creator. He’s already one of the most recognizable sports figures because of his game, his look, his hunger to win, and his style on and off the court,” Grancio explains. “His ceiling is far from reached, which tells you the future for him and our brand looks incredible.”
