Everyone dreams of being like Mike, including NBA two-time All-Star MVP and Oklahoma City Thunder guard Russell Westbrook.
Lucky for him, Michael Jordan just made his dream come true. On Thursday, November 17th, The basketball legend inducted Westbrook into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame. For his big night, Westbrook donned a slick custom tuxedo look.
Jordan talked highly of Westbrook, who also happens to be a Jordan Brand athlete. “I am truly a fan of his,” said Jordan. “When I watch him play, I see a lot of resemblance of his passion for the game of basketball, the way I played the game of basketball.”
Along with being a two-time All-Star MVP, Westbrook posted 18 triple-doubles last season and three triple-doubles this season. He also averages 31.8 points per game, similar to Jordan.
Being compared to Jordan is a great compliment, but Westbrook stayed humble and pushed the comparison aside.
“Michael’s obviously the best that ever played the game,” Westbrook said. “He’s done so many things for the game of basketball, so many ways and broken so many barriers for guys like myself to be able to go out and compete at a high level, so it means a lot in that aspect. Off the court, he’s carried a great brand. It’s something I eventually want to do when I’m done.”
