New York Knicks star Amar’e Stoudemire is one of best-dressed athletes today, he makes dressing his 6 foot 11 frame look so effortless. Amar’e fashion moves are definitely one to follow, especially for the taller gentlemen. T Magazine recently caught up with Amar’e for a brief interview on his custom-made red Lanvin suit he wore for his wedding reception last Saturday at the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens in Miami. Amar’e had the luxury of working with Lanvin’s creative director and menswear designer on this sleek tailored red suit, which took nearly a year to complete. Check out a sneak peek of their interview below, click to read full feature.
Red is an elaborate, regal color. The whole thing with this wedding is royalty. I want to make sure that my family, [my fiancée’s] family, feels like royalty. If you get a glimpse at the wedding, you’ll see that it’s really a prestige-type event. It’s the type of event that will allow me to wear a red suit.
How many meetings did you have with the people from Lanvin?
I spent quite a few hours there. Most of the fittings were here in New York. At this point, I’m used to it. The majority of the time I have to get clothing custom-made or altered.
Best-dressed guy in the N.B.A.?
Steve Nash. His suits always fit so well and they’re so intricate in detail.
