Jordan brand is setting its scopes in a different direction. The Nike subsidiary has successfully gained control of the sneaker game, starting with the original Air Jordan Collection dominating for nearly four decades. It’s on the rise with collaborations with high-end brands and fashionable athletes (i.e. Russell Westbrook) to make more stylish, off-the-court footwear. And now, is introducing its very first soccer shoe.
Working with FC Barcelona’s Neymar, the sneaker is rumored to be the Air Jordan 5, in special edition low-top, and signature colorway. Not much else has been said of the actual product, but they seem likely to be released in the fall.
Nike has had great success in soccer marketing (Ronaldo and Boateng to name a few), so it shouldn’t be too much of a surprise that they’re cornering more of the market with the Jordan brand. Though, it will be interesting to have the Jumpman logo in a sport where hands are illegal.
