Off the field, Houston Texans’ Draft Pick (12th overall) Deshaun Watson has a love for fashion.
We caught up with the 21-year-old standout QB a day before the 2017 NFL Draft at Procter & Gamble’s gifting suite in Philadelphia. Deshaun, who stands at 6’3″ donned a form-fitting Old Spice t-shirt, pair of slim-fit jeans and white Nike presto sneakers.
Upon our arrival, he greeted us with a smile and firm handshake. There was something peerless about his aura, standing in a room with Deshaun just felt of greatness.
Our conversation with Deshaun predominantly stayed off the field as he opened up about his passions for fashion and shopping. His eyes lit up when the topic of fashion was brought into the discussion, it was like he was a kid in a candy store, but best believe he’s very conscious of not spending all his rookie salary on high-end designer gear. “I’m not trying to get to boujee or fancy, then all my money will go away,”
Deshaun further elaborated on his favorite fashion brands (Gucci and Chanel topped his list,) designers he would love to collaborate on a collection with and also shared details about his NFL Draft day suit, a partnership with former NFL star Michael Strahan’s J.C. Penney line.
If Deshaun lives up to the hype and becomes the next superstar NFL Quarterback, a face football fans all over the world will come accustom to, fashion brands will be knocking on his door for endorsement opportunities, or Deshaun might have a brand big enough to start his very own fashion label, who knows, the sky’s the limit for Mr. Watson.
