They say you big fan of fashion. And connoisseur. Today, fashion is also a way to express their personality and play on the image you send to others. So fashion for D-Wade, what is it?
First, yes, I love fashion. And especially the classic lines of designers such as Tom Ford, Versace, Ralph Lauren, Valentino or DSquared2 that I recently discovered. I love DSquared2. Then, I love finding styles that are off the beaten track. This allows me to juggle looks, to feel different. When you wear a dress, you never do by accident. A suit can change a personality, really.
How would you define your style?
Unpredictable. As a public person, I have – in some way – be exemplary. Youth, children, fans watching me. They see what I do. I must be in line with who I really am. And I am.
You are about to launch a brand of ties and cufflinks to be called The Gentleman. You also have a line of socks in your name, created in collaboration with the brand Stance adores Jay Z. Why agitate for these things?
This is the kind of stuff I like to do. I love the socks, that’s how. I love the idea of making my outfit my own creations. When I dress, I want to show who I am. Somehow, I built my own way and I hope to one day be able to have a full line, and why not my own brand. The inspiration comes almost naturally. I also have a great team of designers around me, but I also like to listen to my own ideas. For example, the design of one of my socks was inspired by my love of African culture.
You imagine fashion designer in 10 years, okay?
I really hope that God will hear you. As I said, my goal is to soon have my own line of ready-to-wear.That’d be really cool.
