In the midst of a horrendous start to the NBA season for Kobe Bryant and his Los Angeles Lakers, watchmaker Hublot gave the living legend something to smile about.
Flanked by fellow Laker legend James Worthy at Hublot’s Beverly Hills Boutique Wednesday evening, Bryant was on hand to introduce the Swiss company’s first timepiece in collaboration with the Lakers–the King Power ‘Los Angeles Lakers’.
The watch, a part of the company’s King Power collection, retails for a cool $27,900. Materials used to manufacture the timepiece include carbon fiber and titanium, all while still including the Lakers’ classic purple and gold colors. The watch also comes with an additional strap produced from an authentic Lakers jersey.
This is the first Hublot timepiece designed for the Lakers organization since becoming their ‘Official Timekeeper’ a year ago; however, it is the third timepiece promoted by Bryant, a brand ambassador since early 2013.
Ricardo Guadalupe, global CEO of Hublot:
“…we’re thrilled to now bring this partnership to life with the launch of the limited edition King Power Los Angeles Lakers,”
Lakers President Jeanie Buss added:
“The King Power Los Angeles Lakers is an exemplary representation of the team and its proud history of being a first-class organization. It is through innovative partnerships with global companies like Hublot that the Lakers will continue to remain at the vanguard of the sports world.”
Hublot’s other partnerships with sports teams across the globe include the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys the Dutch soccer club Ajax.
