I’m really convinced now, I’m one lucky guy! After winning a recent giveaway at the NYC store opening event for French menswear brand Manuel Racim, I had the opportunity to collaborate with the brand on designing my own custom-shirt. I’ve never actually customized my own shirt before, I couldn’t even explain how excited I was to begin. The coolest thing about Manuel Racim is having the luxury of designing a made-to-measure shirt basically from scratch.
After my measurements were taken, I chose the fabric, body, pattern (from an collection rotating on a display wall), collar, buttons, buttonholes, threads, and cuff shapes to my preference. I admit it was pretty overwhelming choosing from an array of fabrics and patterns, but I was very pleased with my final decision. I elected to go with a sleek grey fabric, spruced up with floral print accents. The floral pattern originally caught my eye during their store unveiling. I utilized that print for the interior of the collar, and cuff of the shirt.
I wasn’t disappointed at all with the final product. It fitted perfectly, complemented my physique to the fullest. I would definitely recommend Manuel Racim to any pro athlete or sartorialist looking to contrive their own shirt. Take a look at my selective process below.
