Two days prior to the NBA Draft 2017 we met with Jhoanna Alba (founder/stylist/designer) of ALBA Legacy and her client Dennis Smith Jr, who had just wrapped up his final fitting session for his draft day tuxedo.
Unfortunately, we couldn’t get an early preview of Dennis’ draft look, he wanted to keep it a surprise, “You gonna have to wait and see” was his response when we asked. If you’re not too familiar with Dennis Smith Jr, do your Googles! He’s an awesome talent with a bright NBA future ahead, it was an honor to speak with him so early on in his career. Sky’s the limit.
The 6’2 combo guard spoke to us about the importance of having the perfect draft look and what he feels he can bring to an NBA team.
We also talked to the creative behind-the-scenes, Ms. Jhoanna Alba, who has a history of designing flawless threads for the world’s most prestigious athletes, Johanna has been in the fashion game for years working with talents such as the great Magic Johnson, and current NBA stars John Wall and Russell Westbrook.
In our discussion, Jhoanna elaborated on the process of getting these young stars prepared for the Draft. She also talked about current trends her clients requested. “They wanted to go so tight, it was like the tighter the better,” said Alba.
Dennis was just one of six draftees Jhoanna dressed for the NBA Draft.
