NBA Fashion: Christmas Day 2018

Written by JaRon M in Athletes Fashion,NBA Style on Dec 26th 2018

Christmas Day: To some people, it means going home for the holidays, to others it means watching Christmas-infused classics, like ‘Die Hard,’ “A Christmas Story,’ or binge-watching “The Office”‘ Christmas episodes.

To others, Christmas means only one thing, a day where some of the greatest mid-season NBA matchups take place. The NBA has been featuring 5 of the greatest matchups on this December day, usually including a finals matchup or games that feature the league’s brightest stars. When the stars collide on the court we are sure to see some of the most eclectic, game-changing looks during the pregame march. Some of the elites went with traditional Christmas looks including garbs that resembled Santa’s little helpers or the classic “Ugly Christmas Sweaters” whereas other ballers took this prime time opportunity to wear some of their favorite couture designers. Here are some of our favorite looks.

Lebron James traded in his Christmas Photo ready onesies for a tailored look featuring a Breton style undershirt and a blue suede overcoat featuring luxurious gold buttons. He closed out the look with his Retro 3’s originally released in 2005, further proving James’s longevity and legacy in the NBA.

Keeping it steezy, per usual, PJ Tucker rocked designer threads courtesy of Moncler giving us a aprés-ski inspired look that looks like what Santa would wear if he had a stylist.

Heading out West, Mr. Draymond Green went with a debonair look that was impeccably tailored featuring a plaid/solid lapel hybrid, a tuxedo pant, and velvetine loafers to compliment it all.

Teammate Boogie Cousins also donned designer threads featuring some furry Gucci loafers

Some athletes chose to stay in the holiday spirit like NYK ballers Mitchell Robinson, Kevin Knox, and Allonzo Tier who wore matching elf outfits to spread a bit of holiday cheer to the masses.

Some people like “Elf” others are a fan of “Rudolph the Rednosed Reindeer”, Damian Lillard is obviously a fan of “A Christmas Story” which he shown by walking limb and limb with the iconic leg lamp circa the movie. This leg lamp traded out the stilettos for Lillard’s latest adidas collaboration.

Chris Paul also spread some holiday love from the sidelines with an emoji-esque Santa sweater thrown underneath houndstooth suit seperates

Down in H-Town (H standing for Harden) the show was stolen in true Grinch form by the All Star SG. This Versace all over look has already taken the internet by storm and although some people are taking jabs at his outfit choice, I think it is one of the brightest looks of the day.

Russell Westbrook arrived at the Toyota Center donning a 90’s Surf Style tracksuit and vibrant pair of custom Nike Monarch kicks.
