NBA forward Anthony Davis is extending his brand into the fashion industry.
The rising star announced his fall 2016 capsule collection with Saks Fifth Ave. The joint-venture, dubbed “SAKS FIFTH AVENUE X ANTHONY DAVIS” marks the first time the label has collaborated with an athlete on a fashion collection. Major!
The limited-edition set focuses on ‘Athleisure’ pieces and is composed of 11 modernistic styles, from lengthy bold pattern tees and hoodies to tanks and joggers. The price point is manageable as well, ranging from $58-$188.
“I wanted to bring athleisure to another level,” stated Anthony Davis. “Collaborating with Saks Fifth Avenue on an exclusive capsule was a dream come true. I was very hands on with the entire process, from choosing the prints to designing the silhouettes—this capsule truly embodies my fashion perspective.”
SAKS FIFTH AVENUE X ANTHONY DAVIS is currently available, and is exclusive to only 23 Saks locations–a tribute to Davis’ jersey number– will be available online as well.
We approve of this move, it’s fantastic to see more athletes with a passion for fashion put themselves in the position to collaborate with brands such as Saks Fifth Avenue. We love the athleisure concept behind Davis’ collection but was expecting to see more of a range from a Saks collab. It would have been nice to see one or two formal looks Davis can wear for game days or business meetings. If not a traditional suit, a suit with functionality would have been ideal for the athleisure theme.
