Spalding, the largest basketball equipment supplier in the world, held an awesome interactive fan experience during NBA All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles. Their event dubbed Spalding Backcourt celebrated the intersection of basketball & pop culture.
Spalding’s weekend festivities included a mini basketball court, an exhibit of Spalding basketball collaborations (collabs included fashion brands Supreme, Valentino and Undefeated,) as well as a panel discussion led by NBA star Chris Paul.
The panel focused on the topic of ‘The Convergence of Basketball X Culture.’ Joining NBA star Chris Paul to talk basketball, fashion, and culture was Terrance J.(Moderator,) Lenny Santiago (VP Roc Nation,) Courtney Mays (NBA Wardrobe Stylist,) and Adam Figman (E.I.C of Slam Mag.)
A portion of the conversation touched on the influence of fashion on sports, especially with NBA players. The walk from the team bus to the locker room has become a runway show for athletes. Their outfits can go viral on any night. Chris, who is well-known for his sleek outfits, elaborated on his sense of style as well, and how he dresses for each city and depending on how he feels that day.
