The Tie Bar, online men’s neckwear company, and NBA star Dwyane Wade are hitting it off pretty well. The design partners debuted their second capsule collection of bow ties and pockets squares today. For the second set D-Wade’s designs were inspired by four places on his chronic road trips–New Orleans, LA, Chicago, Il, Memphis, TN and Harlem, NY.
Check out a preview of the collection below. The range is currently available for purchase on thetiebar.com. Did I mention the ties retail for $25 and pocket squares for $15? very affordable.
Wade captures the vibrancy of New Orleans by applying intricate patterns reflective of the lush flowers and vines that grow through out the city. The colors in this range are vibrant and unexpected. The New Orleans group features bow ties and pocket squares in luxurious silks and supple cottons.
“New Orleans is a city that makes me want to be stronger. To be resilient and bounce back on the court and in life – I owe that to the city of New Orleans.” – DW
Wade pays homage to his home city through menswear. Inspired largely by the Chicago skyline this range features clean lines and mimics the industrial sensibility of the Illinois city. The architecture of Wade’s hometown is represented in the linear patterns and structured design. The collection offers printed silk bowties as well as reversible bowties, referencing the balance of the natural and industrial landscape of the city.
“When I take in that magical skyline of some of the tallest buildings in the U.S., I know that I’m at home.” – DW
The collection, like the city itself, is bold and graphic with saturated colors inspired by the mosaics and art that fill the streets. To capture the thumping energy of Harlem, Wade uses pulsing patterns and mixes rich hues including purples, reds and blues.
“Love the Harlem Shake – a fun dance. What also makes Harlem interesting is the vibrant colors you see on its streets, whether it’s from fashion or art.” – DW
The collection representing Memphis is diverse and dynamic. Wade acknowledges the city’s musical roots and soulful heritage by applying a series of melodic patterns, motley color and unique textures. Wade also draws inspiration from the Memphis-Arkansas Bridge, which adds an element of contrast to the collection. The Memphis range features cotton and silk blend pocket squares and reversible bow ties.
“Memphis is known for its influence of musical genres such as blues, soul, gospel and rock n’ roll. Artists and musicians such as Al Green, B.B. King, Aretha Franklin and Elvis Presley all made their mark here.” – DW
